What is YS Flight?

For those of you who do not know this program yet, I'd like to briefly explain what YS Flight is.

It's basically a flight simulator built by Mr. Soji Yamakawa, which allows people to fly independently, with and against AI, and on servers against other pilots. You can add planes, sceneries, ground objects, and missions, which are frequently provided by active members across the globe. Lots of members come from Japan, where the program originates, and there's a good crowd of people active in the rest of the world too, with communities on Yahoo and www.yspilots.com.

Add-ons are easily available, and some of the planes are as good as the best flight simulators money can buy in the shops. Weapon options are limited in that there are only one kind of 500 pound bomb, 250 pound bomb, short range AA missile, rocketpod, etc etc, but you can download and copy different kinds of them, and change them per flying session.

By far the best English language website you can find on YS Flight is www.yspilots.com, which has plenty of links, add-ons, and guidance on add-on creations. More info on: http://www.yspilots.com/forum/view_article.php?id=5

And of course Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YS_Flight_Simulation_System_2000

The controls of YS are straight forward, with nothing too fancy, but flight characteristics are very accurate. Best of all, it's freeware, for anyone to download, and hardly takes any disc space at all.

So, if you are new to this but enjoy airplanes, then I hope to see you flying around with us soon.
